About this event

Storytelling has emerged as one of the most sought-after skills in the business world. Whether you’re trying to set a vision, lead change, explain your ideas, or make a recommendation that sticks, storytelling can help you do it better.

Paul Smith, best-selling author of the books Lead with a Story, Sell with a Story, and The 10 Stories Great Leaders Tell, will share what he's learned from his extensive research in storytelling, including in-depth one-on-one interviews with over 300 executives and leaders in 25 countries around the world.

In the first half of the discussion, you’ll learn why you should be using more storytelling in your work, when you should be telling stories (and when not), as well as actionable tools for how to craft the most effective and engaging business stories, including a story structure, the 8 questions your story needs to answer, as well as techniques to create the right level of emotional engagement and even a surprise ending in your stories.

In the second half of the discussion, Paul will explain how to apply those same storytelling techniques to data. He'll specifically cover two methods of telling stories with data that utilize the same techniques described in the first half that make stories told with words so effective, and can have the same impact when used with data.
